Project Overview
Project Goal
Redesign the powerhead and crown to better communicate power and refinement while maintaining the Shark Navigator’s strong brand identity.
About the Project
The Navigator Lift-Away builds on Shark’s best-selling vacuum line, combining strong suction with a detachable pod for versatile home cleaning. For this generation, the design team refreshed key elements to elevate the product’s premium look while integrating new functional features such as LED headlights and refined branding.
Contribution and Key Challenges
As an industrial design intern, I focused on redesigning the powerhead and crown in the second phase of development. I sketched and refined concepts inspired by the Navigator’s established identity, collaborated closely with engineers and marketing to align aesthetics with function, and developed realistic visual prototypes with the model maker to support final reviews.
Balancing the established Navigator design language with the demand for a refreshed, more powerful look.
Integrating new elements such as LED headlights without disrupting the cohesive form.
Ensuring seamless connection points (e.g., hose, vents, and parting lines) that maintained both function and clean aesthetics.
